The New Cattle Market of Padua in Chiesanuova
The realization of the Padua cattle market arose from a competition which immediately revealed that the market should be covered but not enclosed. For the majority of the area, designed for 3,500 head of cattle, prefabricated elements had to be incorporated to create a cohesive overall appearance. The design, reflecting the concept of a market, a large wholesale market, suggested the idea of a large tent, similar to those used at rural festivals or fairs. This approach emphasized direct interaction, the inspection of goods, and simple handshakes.
