Bridge over the Strait of Messina
The winning project, a suspension bridge without intermediate supports, which emerged from an international competition, is the design of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sergio Musmeci. Prof. Musmeci, born in 1926, lives and works in Rome. He holds a degree in civil engineering, supplemented this with a second degree in aeronautics, and is a professor of theoretical mechanics and large structures at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Rome.
