The large building (15,500 cubic metres of enclosed space) on St. Martin's Square, a site of particular importance to the historically significant character of the old town, was designed to blend harmoniously with its largely intact, small-scale surroundings. Three staggered gable roof surfaces, roughly following the line of the old city wall, evoke the image of Wangen's old town with its narrow, closely packed houses and projecting gables. The entire building serves as the main branch of the savings bank. It comprises two basement levels, the ground floor, and five upper floors, some of which are located within the staggered roofs. While the latter significantly influence the building's integration into the old town setting, the ground floor, as well as the first and second floors, were primarily adapted to the operational requirements of the building.
