One of the longest-span pedestrian bridges was built in Rottenburg over the Neckar River. Due to the large span, a three-hinged beam design was chosen. This allowed for sufficient cross-sections of the bridge girders measuring 19/112 cm. All three-hinged points are designed as true hinges. The wind bracing and buckling bracing, positioned approximately halfway up the girder, spans naturally from support to support. The diagonals are made of flat steel, and the chords simultaneously support the walkway. Because large axial forces occur despite the shallow pitch of the bridge girders, the entire height of the girders had to be laterally supported by steel frames. The bridge was prefabricated in two sections and delivered. Assembly of the supporting structure took two hours. The walkway was installed later for weight reasons.
