Exterior Wall Construction of an Office Building in Vienna
The building complex, used for various office purposes, consists of a ten-storey tower on Untere Donaustraße, a five-storey building on Fischergasse, and a six-storey building on Ferdinandstraße; all courtyards are built over at ground level. Two basement levels provide 88 parking spaces. The ground floor serves as the public area for Wiener Allianz Insurance AG. The total enclosed volume is 54,359 cubic metres, with 9,000 square metres of office space. Both the frames and sashes of the fully operable windows are made of "AI sec" aluminium insulating profiles. The outer profiles are made of Grinatal alloy, while the inner profiles are made of natural aluminium (Extrudal). The profiles are connected by synthetic rubber rods. All aluminium components are anodized. The continuous Grinatal pilasters serve, among other things, to drain water from the facade. The rainwater is collected floor by floor in gutters and directed into the pilasters, from where it is channeled into the sewer system via a pipe system at the bottom.
