Shell AG's New Canopus Service Station Type

The 1600 sq m, 84-ton roof spans freely over the fuel bays and service buildings. It rests on six steel columns, which are fixed in place to ensure longitudinal and lateral stability. The clear clearance is 5.65 m, and the structural height of the main support structure is 1.62 m. The main trusses are designed as a truss construction. The roof covering consists of galvanized trapezoidal sheets with 2 cm insulation panels and three layers of bonded bitumen felt. While the curved side surfaces are clad with smooth, galvanized steel sheets, the ceiling is also covered with galvanized trapezoidal sheets. Drainage of the entire roof surface is achieved through downpipes concealed within the box girders.
