Exhibition and Congress Halls in Kortrijk/Holland

Eleven mushroom-shaped wooden structures form the congress and exhibition halls, measuring 92 metres long and 69 metres wide. Kortrijk's famous "halls," long a hub of trade, especially during the time when Kortrijk was a flourishing trading city (textiles, cloth), were completely destroyed during the Second World War. Now that the city lies at the crossroads of important national and international transport routes and thus fulfills a central function, it seems that bread is once again being reaped—quite literally—in a trading and exchange building. Hence the reconstruction of the "halls," which are remarkable both architecturally and structurally.
