In 1964/65, the Working Group for University Construction of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior's Supreme Building Authority formulated principles for institute construction. These principles, which also address the structural system, formed the basis for a construction system used for several institutes of the newly founded University of Regensburg and the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Erlangen. These included purely humanities-focused institute buildings as well as highly specialized chemical laboratory buildings, each with very different requirements for the structural design. The following summary, after presenting the structural system using six institute buildings as examples, illustrates the common structural principle and compares the recurring details or those modified according to the specific requirements.
