The Wildberg elementary school project was selected as the first prize in a 1964 competition among 58 participants. The school grounds in the small town, located between Calw and Nagold, are situated on a hill outside the town centre. The competition's explanatory report states: "In keeping with the site's unique location, efforts were made to create courtyards to protect break areas from the wind and, in contrast to the extreme view, to establish more inward-focused zones appropriate to the functions of a school."
