Evangelical Academy in Bad Segeberg
Purpose of the building: The conference centre of the Evangelical Academy of North Elbia in Bad Segeberg is designed as a meeting place and forum for discussion for all social classes and all denominations. The clients were the Evangelical Lutheran regional churches of Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Lübeck, and Eutin, whose merger to form the North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church is imminent. The design of the complex emerged from a competition in which fourteen entries from across Germany were evaluated. Location and planning concept: The academy is situated on the outskirts of Bad Segeberg, conveniently located near the town centre, adjacent to a lake and the town's spa park. The complex consists of a main building (the actual conference centre) and several staff apartments. All rooms in the main building are grouped around the central entrance hall.
