Roofing of the Bad Nauheim Ice Sports Stadium
Several bids were received for the roof structure of the Bad Nauheim ice sports stadium, specifying various construction materials (steel, reinforced concrete, aerated concrete, and wood). The roof shape and the arrangement of the supports were stipulated by the client. Although the wood construction was the most economical option in the initial bids, further cost reductions were sought. The design shown here was developed through collaboration between the timber construction engineer and the executing timber construction company.
