The necessity of constructing the buildings in a remote location suggested an analogy to a monastery for the research centre and the adjacent residential buildings, both in function and architectural expression. The technical requirements of a tower for the secondary antenna, a large circular building for the control hall, a massive structure for the power plant, as well as the earth dams and retaining walls, demanded strong, expressive building volumes.
