Single-family Bathhouse

The property is situated on the uniformly subdivided shore of a gravel lake on the outskirts of town. Official regulations stipulated a limited building area, precisely defined setbacks and roof ridge heights, a private well, and a private sewage system. The building commission was for a bathhouse for a family of five with a need for prestige; an undivided glass facade facing the lake; 41.43 sq m of living space, 144.50 sq m of enclosed volume; total costs approximately 250,000 Austrian schillings. The unit of measurement was one foot in three dimensions. Construction consisted of freestanding exposed concrete slabs with a pronounced formwork structure (inside and out); infill panels with Hetzer beams as top supports; tongue-and-groove, timber-framed soffits.
