Student Residence in Kiel

Regarding the building's construction: The unified form of the student residence's architectural composition should be reflected in a consistent structural and material appearance: exposed concrete or pebble-faced concrete – for both structural columns and load-bearing walls. All other materials used, such as masonry, aluminium, glass, and wood, are integrated into this design. In the student residence, the columns on the ground floor stand freely or in front of the recessed building sections; they define the atrium space. Since the columns on the upper floor no longer serve a space-defining function, they are located behind the facade. This floor is precisely defined by the concrete mullions of the window wall construction.
