All filters are housed within a footprint of 107 x 133 m. Due to weather conditions, a hall-like structure for the entire facility appeared to be the most practical solution. This necessitated the following prerequisites: as few columns as possible within or between the filters, good daylighting, minimal condensation on the surrounding structures, and the ability to transport heavy components (by truck or crane). The hall is formed by 20 concrete hypershells, each with edge dimensions of 22 x 22 m (with 4 m wide glass bands between them), and angled glass exterior walls. The columns are spaced 26 m apart. At ground level, the columns measure 1.50 x 1.50 m; the average shell thickness is 10 cm.
