The suburban plot is long and narrow; therefore, while utilizing the full width of the site, the building had to be designed primarily in depth and height. The requirement was for two separate apartments, accessed via a shared entrance. A self-contained apartment was to be accessible separately and not disturb the owner's living area. The aim was an introverted architectural form that would have less of an outward connection and instead direct the gaze inwards towards the numerous paintings and sculptures on display.
