The exterior steel columns and arched girders were sandblasted before painting. All visible connections are continuous, the butt joints are fillet-welded and ground smooth. The exclusive use of steel ceilings proved economical and advantageous. Long, honeycomb-structured steel slabs (approximately 76.5 mm thick) with a 63.5 mm concrete topping were used for the interior floors. On the ground floor, the flooring runs lengthwise along the building due to the pipes and cables running from below. Therefore, the intermediate joists are positioned transversely, bisecting the narrow side of each bay.
