Manufacturing Plant with Office Space of the Cummins Engine Company

The Cummins plant is a simple, unpretentious factory building whose form and choice of materials leave no doubt as to its purpose. It follows the best traditions of early 20th-century American industrial architecture. Its form, a simple rectangular box measuring 155.4 x 91.44 x 21.64 metres, is a clear expression of its construction. There is no distinction between the factory floor and the office space. Both are designed as flexible work areas, each of which can be expanded or reduced as needed without significantly disrupting the workflow. The plan is based on a footprint of 9.14 x 18.29 metres.
