The use of Eternit flat roof cornices here eliminated the need for any concrete upstand. This allowed the windows and French doors to be installed flush with the plaster, and the roller shutter boxes to be completely concealed by the upper soffit panels. Even the 30 cm wide flying buttresses in the small courtyards could be easily covered and clad, both inside and out, with this cornice, which covers the entire roof structure without any additional sheet metal. The visible upper soffit sections can move freely along their length and require no joint sealant.
