Task and Situation: A café with 350 seats was to be created for the duration of the garden show, with 100 seats indoors, 100 covered seats outdoors, and 150 uncovered seats outdoors. The site for the café is located in the immediate vicinity of the western entrance to the palace gardens, on a small rise next to the former artificial sunken garden. The long rear facade of the orangery building, running along the south side of this sunken garden, and the tall, old trees forming a clearing complete the situation from which the concept for the café emerged.
