Komazawa Stadium in Tokyo
Komazawa Park (43 hectares in total), located approximately 12 km southwest of Tokyo's city centre, is a recreational area for the city's residents. It follows a comprehensive plan that also provided suitable facilities for hosting part of the Olympic Games. The athletic facilities within the park are arranged around a central plaza, which is connected to a 22-metre-wide road running east-west through the park. The track and field stadium is located east of the plaza; the gymnastics hall is on the west side, and on the opposite side of the road, south of the plaza, is a covered volleyball stadium.
