Country House in Japan

The architect designed this hilltop house as a kind of micro-house prototype. The load-bearing structure is made of wood; the gable ends and sections of the long sides are plastered (on mortared lathwork). The roof is covered with galvanized sheet metal. Following a tradition common in many farmhouses in the country, the floor is a clay floor made of clay and lime; it is partially covered with boards (topped with tatami mats). The interior walls are partly clad with boards and partly constructed with spruce plywood panels.
