Exterior Staircases in Steel Construction
1 and 1a: Exterior staircase at the International Transport Exhibition in Munich, 1965. Architect: Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Paolo Nestler, Munich. Construction: I- and U-profiles, bolted together (for later disassembly). Precast concrete block steps are placed on the load-bearing posts (two I-beams) without additional retaining devices. 2. Emergency staircase at the technical centre of the Applications Department of the Badische Anilin- und Sodafabriken (BASF), Ludwigshafen. Architects: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hentrich and Dipl.-Ing. Petschnigg, Düsseldorf. Load-bearing structure made of welded I- and U-profiles; stringers and steps made of sheet steel.
