The roof's purpose is to provide rain protection for the timber storage area while simultaneously allowing the wood to air dry. The cross-sectional shape resulted from the requirement to install a gantry crane with the lowest possible roof edge. The width of the crane, the position of the facade piers within the substructure, and structural considerations all led to the final roof design.
