Exterior view of the 55 m long and 15 m wide, two-storey structure of the GEG data centre in Hamburg. The parapet elements serve both load-bearing and space-enclosing functions. They are designed as sandwich panels with insulation and a facing layer of exposed aggregate concrete. Their placement in front of the load-bearing structure prevents thermal bridges. The 15 m free-span, integrated ceiling slabs support a net load of 500 kg/m² and simultaneously function as air conditioning ducts. All building services installations were installed between them and the suspended ceiling.
