The house is situated approximately 20 metres from the road on a steep slope overlooking the Bay of San Francisco. Its foundation consists of a retaining wall on the hillside and five individual footings on the valley side for the load-bearing wide-flange beams. A living area of 171 square metres and a veranda of 54 square metres are securely supported on this structure. The valley-side framework was erected within two days using prefabricated components without scaffolding; connections were made partly by welding and partly by bolting.
