School building complex in St. Maurice, Switzerland. Architect: Daniel Girardet, Sion. The complex, divided into one- and two-storey buildings on sloping terrain, is characterized by a unified construction principle and a consistent aesthetic in the materials used. The load-bearing structure is made of reinforced concrete, the end walls of natural stone masonry, and the infill panels are made of composite walls clad with wood on the exterior. The naturally varnished reclaimed wood contrasts sharply with the other materials and contributes to the overall impression of a clearly structured and welcoming complex against the backdrop of the mountains.
