Workshop with a Sawtooth Roof in Steel Tube Construction and Light Metal Facade

As part of the factory expansion on the old factory site, a single-storey building was constructed in the second phase of construction, in addition to the multi-storey building (see DETAIL issue 4/1962, p. 365). The requirement for maximum flexibility in the use of the usable space led to a column-free, 60-metre-span hall constructed of tubular steel. The hall rests on a reinforced concrete basement level that houses the material storage areas. Including the 10-metre-wide perimeter zones, the entire hall complex measures 72 x 82 metres; in its final phase, the hall will be enlarged to 144 x 82 metres. The perimeter zones, which contain specialized workshops, house the staircases and elevators.
