The altar area is illuminated by two walls of windows with lightweight steel frames, bathed in the brightest light, while the nave receives more subdued, medium light. Construction: The ceiling is a reinforced concrete truss structure with infill panels of Brazilian pine, stained light and dark. Gable walls are constructed of sandblasted, matte red brick; eaves walls are made of precast concrete blocks with special insulation; the surface is finished in exposed aggregate concrete. Double glazing is installed in the rabbets of the blocks (see drawing). A band of glass between the eaves walls and the ceiling visually separates the ceiling from the walls.
