The aim was to create a structure that blends into the grand forms of the landscape. The design is dictated by the fact that in winter the snow here can reach depths of up to 3 metres, and the thaw, with its nightly ice formation, destroys every building material except concrete. (This is why buildings in the area are often placed on concrete foundations approximately 1.5 metres high, which are usually quite unsightly.)
