Fire Escapes
The staircase, located at the junction of the ward wings, also leads to the roof of the dining hall, which serves as a viewing platform. The triangular, sheet-metal-clad surfaces are a characteristic feature of the overall facade. The load-bearing structure is steel. Concrete steps with rubber treads rest on sheet metal plates, which are attached to the stringers on both sides by welded brackets. The balustrades are infilled with wired glass.
