High School in Växjö/Sweden
Each concrete element of the infill panels at the high school in Växjö measures approximately 2.70 x 3.70 metres. It consists of three layers: 7 cm of concrete, 10 cm of insulating plastic, and 7 cm of concrete. The concrete panels are reinforced with a steel mesh, which is further strengthened by vertical, zigzag-patterned round bars. The plastic layer is structurally load-bearing. The elements are stacked directly on top of each other and held in place by stainless steel brackets at each corner. They were cast in wooden formwork, with the outer layer receiving a coating of white marble sand.
