Examples of the Application of Enamelled Cladding Panels on Facades

H. J. von Buren and G. Fransen (on behalf of the manufacturer N. V. Emaillierfabrik "De Ijsel", Dieren/Netherlands) state the following: As early as 1890, a house in Gaggenau was clad with enameled steel sheets. From 1930 onwards, their application was developed, particularly in the USA, and greatly expanded there after 1950. Today, elements of this type can be found on many smaller and larger buildings, as well as in interior design (e.g., as shields for convector heaters). Recently, they have also become increasingly common in Europe. A distinction is made between cladding panels (veneer wall) and wall elements (curtain wall). The simple, folded cladding panel serves to cover conventional constructions, usually as a non-thermally insulated panel (semi-curtain wall).
