Infill development of an unobtrusive kind: A historic Art Nouveau villa, well worth preserving, already stood in a central location on the Lake Constance property. The challenge was to create the perfect building site within the plot. Clear, simple, and cost-effective. The pure construction costs amounted to less than €270,000 for over 200 m² of living and usable space. Infill development of an unobtrusive kind: a compact two-storey house for a young family lies hidden beneath the canopy of the surrounding trees, directly on Lake Constance. The clients' wish was to build a simple, modern, and sustainable residence on the large lakeside property, centred around the Art Nouveau villa. Designed by the architects Geckeler from Konstanz, the result is an exemplary building that, as a timber-frame construction built to passive house standards, functions almost energy self-sufficiently.
