In the heart of the nineteenth arrondissement in Paris the interior of a municipal sports centre that had seen better days has been transformed into an atmospheric space which now offers new visual, sensory and tactile experiences. The facility comprises a pool, shower, sanitary zone, and changing rooms, as well as a variety of circulation spaces. On account of facility’s state of disrepair, the City of Paris decided to modernize and technically upgrade the indoor swimming pool, which dated to the 1970s. However, the result is considerably more than a simple refurbishment. In response to the lack of an attractive view to the exterior and the consensus that in the existing design, space felt constricted, the architects have created flowing spaces with stimulating surfaces and a completely new colour concept.
