Object+Product: Citizens' Office in Erftstadt
The monolithic, sculptural new building for the citizens' office in Erftstadt, near Cologne, brings a sense of calm and clarity to a heterogeneous environment. In its form and colour, the building echoes the neighboring structures and the surrounding area. However, its minimalist design and distinctive choice of materials give it a unique character, creating a contemporary and memorable focal point in the cityscape. The design comes from the young Cologne-based architecture firm raumwerk.architekten, which won a competition held by the city of Erftstadt in 2007.
