Object+Product: German Pavilion, Expo Milan

The nature of the World Expo is evolving – a more economical use of resources and a clearer focus on the temporary nature of the event are therefore shaping the concept and execution of the German Pavilion "Fields of Ideas," designed by Schmidhuber, in Milan. This is complemented by a strong thematic engagement with the Expo motto "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life," which is reflected in a close integration of architecture and the interactive exhibition developed by Milla & Partner. At Expo 2015, Germany aims to present itself as a vibrant, fertile landscape brimming with ideas and solutions for the future. From this, the planners developed the concept of an architecturally realized landscape of fields and meadows, which visitors can traverse and experience on two levels. Depending on time and interest, he can choose the route via the wide ramp to the upper level, which offers a panoramic view of the Expo grounds and invites visitors to stroll and linger. Or he can take the guided tour through the exhibition inside, which features a multimedia presentation on this year's Expo theme.
