Housing and Commercial Development for a Construction Group in Berlin

In 2009, a consortium consisting of three architectural practices was the only group to make an offer for the more than 2,000 m² derelict site in Kreuzberg, Berlin. The contaminated soil, the proximity of the site to an above-ground metro line and the dubious establishments in the neighbourhood had deterred investors. Nor was it certain how this former border area between West and East Berlin would develop. The architects nevertheless accepted the risk.
