The Peter Rosegger nursing home in western Graz is a multigenerational care facility based on the guiding principle of family. Building upon this concept, the two-storey structure comprises eight residential groups – four per floor – arranged around a central "village square" and complemented by a diverse range of outdoor spaces. Designed by Dietger Wissounig Architects, the home won first prize in an invited competition. Located on the site of the former Hummel barracks, it forms the nucleus of a new urban quarter that will eventually house up to 20,000 people.
