Office Building in Zuchwil

The European headquarters for a manufacturer of medical implants was designed by the office of the Zurich-based architect Peter Märkli. The roughly 170 meters long and 22 meters tall slab directly borders the Aare river towards the north and acts as a confident counterpart to the historic city of Solothurn. Located on a former military site, it offers room for 900 workplaces, most of them organized within an open-plan office across three upper floors. The ground floor includes additional workshops for the development of new products, two large training rooms as well as a staff restaurant. On the exterior, a tall parapet structured into rectangular fields rests upon concrete pillars in colossal order and with natural stone cladding.
