Object+Product: House for Geoinformation in Kranzberg

The central, single-storey entrance area connects the staggered building sections. The building's rectilinear, almost archaic design continues in the outdoor areas – a gravel courtyard, a wall, a tree. Situated in the middle of a residential area, the House for Geoinformation, with its dispersed volume, blends seamlessly into the existing structures. From a distance, the buildings appear as simple concrete cubes – up close, the stonemasonry-like surface treatment and precise detailing become apparent. The facade opens to the northeast, flooding the interior spaces with natural light. Dominikus Stark Architects designed an initial expansion for a leading GIS software manufacturer in 2007, targeting the company's headquarters in Kranzberg, a small town in the Freising district near Munich. Several small buildings are distributed across the site, nestled among single-family and semi-detached houses, creating a campus-like atmosphere. In 2015, the architectural firm completed another building on the site: the "House for Geoinformation."
