Housing Development in Hangzhou

 - Emilia Margaretha

Located in a specially created water garden in the 1,000-hectare Xixi Wetland Park, this new housing development is set on a solid base. This is evident in the many external spaces on different levels and in the lines of access to the buildings. The estate comprises 20 blocks with two different dwelling types – one with three bedrooms and the smaller one with two. Room-height sliding windows afford broad views of the natural environment. The development has a conventional reinforced concrete structure with a self-supporting, partly rear-anchored stone facade. All blocks are linked by an underground storey that houses mechanical services and parking spaces, so that residents can drive to their dwellings.
