Residential Care Facility in Vienna

 - Anna Gassner

Demographic developments and ongoing structural changes are causing shifts in society. The number of people who require 24-hour care is on the increase. At the same time, the support provided by family and relatives is declining. The city of Vienna is reacting to the challenge posed by this with a geriatric reform. As part of this programme of renewal, the existing geriatric centre situated in the Donaustadt district has been refurbished and extended. The aim of these measures is to create a living environment for residents that qualitatively meets their spatial needs and reflects their age and the nature of their disabilities. The new care home, which forms part of the eastern socio-medical centre known as the Donauspital, provides accommodation for 328 residents.
