Yakitori Bar and Restaurant in Tokyo

A first glance into the small dining room is confusing: a modestly furnished room stands out from the visually busy and colourful surroundings. Monochrome tables and chairs with reflective surfaces immediately attract the viewer’s attention. At the back an inconspicuous spiral staircase leads to the upper floor. Here a second surprise awaits the visitor: a colourful cosmos of cables laid like a veil over the furniture and surfaces that counteracts the cool cleanness and transparency of the room below. With minimal resources Kengo Kuma has transformed a small space into an interior design concept that leaves a lasting impression due to its strong materiality.
