Young and creative people who frequently travel can find perfect accommodation in Aldgate, a rapidly evolving quarter of the city of London. The Hotel Leman Locke unites the qualities of individually managed boutique-hotels with the openness of spatial concepts that permit flexible use. The New York-based architect duo Grzywinski + Pons implanted altogether 180 apartments into an independently developed, 24 stories tall skyscraper. The furnishing of the apartments is intended to make visitors feel at home for either a day or a whole year. Nearly all pieces of furniture in the interiors were designed by the architects. The painstakingly detailed beds, lamps and tables, built according to manually drafted plans, are as functional as they are durable. They are also supposed to convey a sense of home. Moveable furniture was intentionally omitted.
