The Feldscheune Isenschnibbe memorial site in Gardelegen serves to commemorate the more than 1000 victims who were forced into a barn on 13 April 1945 only to be set ablaze, killing all inside, in the final days before the capitulation of the NS regime. Since late 2019 a new visitor and documentation centre complements the existing memorial site located between Hanover and Berlin. BHBVT designed a longitudinal, squat building volume with monolithic construction that assumes a respectful position, facing where this atrocity took place. It is situated along the southern perimeter of the site and follows the direction of the path that was walked by the victims.
