Housing Development in Lima

With its deeply recessed grey and green facade, this eight-storey apartment block by Barclay & Crousse forms the end of a housing strip in the well-to-do district of Miraflores in Lima. From closer to, one sees the contrasts between the various materials used and the compositional nuances with which the architects have orchestrated the different facades. To the south, the building opens itself in the form of broad, undivided balconies and large glazed sliding doors to the adjoining Parque Naciones Unidas, which here forms a large open space within the street block. According to the architects’ calculations, the projecting balcony slabs along the south face provide adequate sunshading.
