Street Mecca in Viborg

 - Peter Popp

With specifically aimed measures and a limited budget, the Copenhagen office of Effekt Architects has transformed what was formerly a deserted industrial hall into an inviting centre for street sport and youth culture that is as robust as it is inviting. This Streetmekka project on the periphery of the Jutland city of Viborg came about in close cooperation with the Verein Game non-profit-making utility, an international organization that offers low-threshold indoor activities for young people in socially focal districts. The location for this is a factory dating from the 1960s where in the end rotors for wind-power plant were manufactured.
