A rectangular building layout bordered by 75 cm thick limestone walls, a row of masonry pillars of the same material on the inside - that was all that remained of the former barn near Plymouth in southwestern England. Tom Powell and his architecture office Type remodelled it into a home for a senior couple. It is likely that a wealthy landowner built the structure in 1810 as part of a model farm. The structure itself is untypical for the region. It was built in a rather elaborate manner for a farm building. Most of all, the southern facade with its arched windows and its buttresses appears unusually representative.
