Trudo Tower in Eindhoven

The criticism that wooded high-rise buildings are prestige projects for the well-to-do was not entirely unjustified: immediately after the completion of the first Bosco Verticale in Milan in 2014 the condominiums there cost 6000 - 7000 €/m². Stefano Boeri together with Inbo has recently completed the first vertical forest for social housing in the Netherlands. The housing association Trudo has built a total of 125 apartments ranging from 35 to 50 m², each with a balcony and two greened planters, in the former Philips industrial estate Strijp-S. The basic monthly rent of 633 euro is just below the social housing rent price. By prefabricating the structure, facade components and planters the construction period could be reduced to just 2 years, which also brought down building costs.
